"Paus Benedictus heeft dinsdag zijn eerste tweet verstuurd. Dat meldt de Huffington Post. Op de twitteraccount van het Vaticaan prees de paus Jezus Christus.
Het Vaticaan bevestigde dat paus Benedictus dinsdag voor het eerst heeft getwitterd. Zijn eerste boodschap voor de twitteraars luidde: 'Onze heer Jezus Christus zij geprezen! Met mijn gebeden en zegeningen, Benedictus.'

Volgens officiële bronnen binnen het Vaticaan typte de paus de boodschap zelf op een iPad. In de metadata van Twitter was inderdaad terug te vinden dat de boodschap vanop een iPad werd verstuurd.

De tweet werd verstuurd vanop de nieuwsaccount van het Vaticaan op Twitter. Die heeft momenteel 12.000 volgers."

The tweet was sent from the Vatican News Twitter account, with roughly 12,000 followers but sure to skyrocket following the Pope's tweet.

Vatican officials said that Benedict used his own finger to send the tweet on a touchpad. According to Twitter.com metadata, the tweet was sent from "Twitter for iPad."

Die http://t.co/fVHpS9y is een twitterlink naar www.news.va, de nieuwe nieuwssite van het vaticaan. En dat was eigenlijk de essentie van de tweet, en niet het praisen van the lord, zals de Standaard meldt.
